About PlanningLedger
Planning decisions are public, but they are scattered across dozens of council websites, buried in PDFs and recorded differently from one borough to the next. We collect London’s planning record, read it, and answer questions about it with references back to the official records.
Everything we publish comes from official sources: council planning registers, the Planning Inspectorate’s appeal decisions, national constraint datasets and adopted planning policy. Every figure carries the date it was computed. When the data can’t support a number, we say so instead of publishing it; the methodology explains how each figure is produced.
The same record powers the Reading Room, the free address check, the borough figures and league tables, and the Weekly Approvals Digest newsletter.

What’s new
- 30 September 2026 The homepage leads with the Reading Room: ask a question about London planning decisions and get a research memo by email. Prices are gone during the limited release.
- 30 September 2026 Borough figures now withhold any rate built on fewer than 20 decisions, and flag a council whose published register has stopped updating.
