Terms of Service
Last updated: 7 July 2026
About these terms
These terms govern your use of planningledger.com and the reports, tools, and account services we provide (the “Service”). The Service is operated by PlanningLedger Ltd (“we”, “us”), a company registered in England and Wales under company number 09070132. By using the Service or buying a report, you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, please do not use the Service.
What we provide
PlanningLedger offers a free planning-constraint check, paid planning reports (currently a Standard and a Pro tier), and the ability to save snapshots and revisit past reports from your account. Reports are compiled from statutory public records — planning applications, decisions, and adopted policy published by local planning authorities — together with mapping and other public datasets, plus our own analysis and presentation.
Not professional advice
The Service provides information to help you understand the planning position of a property. It is not legal, planning, surveying, valuation, or investment advice, and using it does not create a professional or advisory relationship. Planning is fact-specific and subject to interpretation and change. Before you buy, sell, build, or make any decision that relies on a report, you should confirm the position directly with the relevant local planning authority and, where appropriate, take professional advice.
Accuracy and data sources
Our information is derived from third-party public sources and is provided on an “as is” and “as available” basis. We take care to compile it faithfully, but we do not warrant that it is complete, accurate, current, or fit for a particular purpose. Public records contain errors and omissions and are updated on the authorities’ own timetables, so a constraint may exist that is not yet reflected in the published data. A report describes the position as at the time it is generated and is not updated afterwards.
Your account
We sign you in with a single-use “magic link” sent to your email address rather than a password. You are responsible for keeping access to that email address secure and for activity carried out through your account. Please tell us promptly at [email protected] if you believe your account has been accessed without your permission.
Prices and payment
Prices are shown at checkout in pounds sterling and include VAT where it applies. Payment is taken before a paid report is generated. Payments are processed by Stripe; your card details are handled by Stripe and do not pass through our servers. We may change our prices from time to time, but a change never affects a report you have already paid for.
Digital delivery, cancellation, and refunds
A paid report is digital content that we make available to you immediately. By purchasing and asking us to generate your report straight away, you consent to immediate delivery and acknowledge that you lose the statutory 14-day right to cancel under the Consumer Contracts (Information, Cancellation and Additional Charges) Regulations 2013 once generation has begun. If a report fails to generate, is not delivered, or is materially defective, contact us at [email protected] and we will re-issue it or, if we cannot, refund you.
Acceptable use and your licence
We grant you a non-exclusive, non-transferable licence to use the reports and information you obtain for your own personal or business purposes. You may not resell, republish, or redistribute reports or our data as a dataset or product, systematically extract or scrape the Service, circumvent rate limits or access controls, or use the Service unlawfully or in a way that harms its operation or other users. The underlying public records are not ours and are not covered by this licence.
Intellectual property
The Service — including the website, software, report formats, scoring, and written analysis — and the PlanningLedger name and branding are owned by us or our licensors. Nothing in these terms transfers that ownership to you beyond the licence to use your report set out above.
Availability
We aim to keep the Service available and working well, but we do not guarantee that it will be uninterrupted or error-free, and we may change, suspend, or withdraw features. We may also suspend or close an account that breaches these terms.
Our responsibility to you
Nothing in these terms limits our liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraud, or for anything else that cannot be limited or excluded under the law of England and Wales. Subject to that, we are not liable for any loss of profit or for any indirect or consequential loss, and we are not responsible for decisions you take in reliance on a report. Subject to the first sentence, our total liability to you in connection with any report is limited to the amount you paid for that report.
Your data and privacy
We handle personal data as described in our Privacy Policy. Please read it — it forms part of your agreement with us.
Changes to these terms
We may update these terms from time to time. The “last updated” date above shows when we last did so, and your continued use of the Service after a change means you accept the updated terms.
Governing law
These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales, and any disputes are subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales.
